The Uefa Executive Committee has voted for Germany to host the European Championships in 2024, just 18 years after the 2006 World Cup. Germany will provide the stage for another major international tournament.

Germany had been contesting with Turkey for the right to host Euro 2024– they won the vote held by 17 Uefa Executive Committee members on Thursday.

Euro 2024 will be the 17th European Championships. There have been applications from 14 German cities to host games, though only 10 will be selected.

Berlin (Olympiastadion), Bremen (Weserstadion), Dortmund (Signal Iduna Park), Düsseldorf (Esprit Arena), Frankfurt (Commerzbank Arena), Gelsenkirchen (Veltins Arena), Hamburg (Volksparkstadion), Hannover (HDI Arena), Cologne (RheinEnergieStadion), Leipzig (Red Bull Arena), Mönchengladbach (Borussia Park), Munich (Allianz Arena), Nürnberg (Max Morlock Stadion) and Stuttgart (Mercedes-Benz Arena).
