FIFPro announces World XI shortlist
The moment you’ve all been waiting for (maybe not) – FIFPro have announced their shortlist for a world XI!
There are 13 from Premier League clubs and just eight from the Bundesliga, all Bayern Munich players as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was perhaps surprisingly overlooked.Six Paris Saint-Germain players are up for the vote, including summer mega-signings Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Dani Alves.
No team is represented more times than Real Madrid, who have 13 players nominated (including Pepe, who is no longer at the club)
A further eight from Barcelona (plus Neymar) and three from Atlético Madrid mean the shortlist of 55 contains 23 current La Liga players.
All four nominated Serie A players played for Juventus last season, including Leonardo Bonucci, who has since moved to AC Milan, plus the aforementioned Dani Alves. Five goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders, and 15 forwards have been shortlisted.
