BREAKING GIST: Patrice Evra hit with UEFA ban and contract termination
Patrice Evra has been banned from all European club competition until the end of June and had his Marseille contract terminated.
The experienced left-back had his contract suspended by Olympique Marseille last week after lashing out at a fan before a Europa League match.
As Marseille were warming up to face Vitoria Guimaraes, Evra reacted angrily to a fan and attempted to kick him. The left-back was instantly sent off before play had even began.
UEFA have now responded with a ban and €10,000 fine for the defender, who will not be allowed to compete in the Europa League or the Champions League for the remainder of the season. In response, Marseille have released a statement confirming the player’s contract has been mutually terminated.
